Turns out my uncle raced on the Nürburgring track in Germany in his youth. Even though im sure it bores my dad, once i year i make him take out old family pictures so that he can tell me stories.

adventuring
Tom & i went on an unexpected adventure today. we weren't even planning on spending time together, but at last minute we decided to take an hour and a half drive to somewhere we had only vaguely explored once. we went much further into it today & it was incredible!! i know it is impossible to tell, but that waterfall is actually runoff from the street. crazy stuff. please excuse the out of focus and dark shots. it was getting dark out by the time we finally got there. i cant wait to go back better prepared

Currently Reading // Be My Baby by Ronnie Spector
I love the title of the book, "Be My Baby; How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts & Madness or My Life as a Fabulous Ronette." It's so fun! Tom found this book for me while we were at the Goodwill bookstore a few weeks back & i'm so awfully glad he did. Its turning out to be a very entertaining read.

im engaged. huzzah!
If i would have known that this was the day tom was going to propose, i would have done my best to cover up that silly bike shorts tan. We spent the day out and about Oak Glen. We got mini pies, apples, apple butter & the most amazing apple cinnamon mini doughnuts. We even got half a dozen for free. if doughnuts tasted like that all the time, i would be a larger person. Anyways, tom & i are getting married! and it shall be soon!

R.I.P.
I have had this beloved luggage since i was around 12 or 13 years old. I was out at garage sales with my mom when i first laid eyes on it. She loved to travel & had visited russia, oregon, mexico, colorado & spent countless weekends at tom's with me. But sadly, she has experienced zipper failure & it is not treatable. She is survived by her smaller & more compact little sister.

Inspiration // Stan Getz & Lanvin 1968
screen caps by me
While waiting for tom to get ready a couple days ago, i stumbled upon this video of stan getz performing at a lanvin fashion show in 1968. That first outfit is beyond words.
This video is full of my favorite things: bossa nova, 1960s fashion & the french.

Outfit Post // Big River
Outfit Details: Dress: Secondhand // Shoes: Forever 21 // Belt: Estate Sale // Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Tom & I spent the day running errands around the city. We took advantage of the local Borders bookstore closing and bought an exceeding amount of history books. I finally got Chernow's biography on Alexander Hamilton as well as a book on remarkable California pioneer women. Tom also picked up a few i plan on stealing like the last installment of Edmund Morris's Roosevelt biographies and a Churchill biography. We are gluttons for history, i suppose.

Curiosities // Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals
// Scanned by Me
I had never heard of Ed Emberley before I ran across this book a couple days ago. But now that i know that he exists, i must say I'm impressed. This book was published in 1970 & teaches children how to draw animals based on basic shapes they already know. They progress from simple to elaborate. They are quite beautiful, arent they?Listening To: At The Zoo by SImon & Garfunkel

Outfit Post // Heroes & Villians
Outfit Details: Shirt: Vintage // Shorts: Levis // Shoes: Vans
Tom & I try to go on bike rides every Sunday morning. It sadly doesn't always happen, but im very happy when it does. We ride through the local neighborhoods. I usually spend my time gawking at houses & daydreaming about them. You would be surprised at the things you find while you ride around. We encountered a barn in the middle of a residential neighborhood, which you can somewhat see in the first picture. We also found a house that had a windmill, ferris wheel, and a train in their front yard.
