The Road Trip: Washington DC

Oh Washington DC. We essentially only had one day to explore you, but we made the most of it. We started the day early by going and visiting the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum, followed by the American History Museum. Then we went on a two hour bike tour of all the monuments. That was followed by lunch and then the Portrait Gallery. I wish we had more time. I wish it weren't pouring crazy rain. I wish you had a better public transportation system.

The Road Trip: Monticello, Virginia

These are my favorite pictures from the road trip. We only brought film cameras for the trip. I had previously purchased a bunch of really cheap expired 35 mm film at an estate sale. I love the way this roll turned out. It looks like a set of kodachrome pictures. Anyways, enough gushing. These are from our visit to Monticello. It was such an incredible place to visit. We went there towards the end of the day, so we were the last tour of the day. That meant there were only a handful of people there, so it felt as it we had the place to ourselves. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Tom isn't a huge Jefferson fan, but we both left there impressed.

Road Trip: Savannah

Savannah was amazing. We did not go there with a list of things to do, I just knew I wanted to go to Back in the day bakery. It was such a dreamy place though, with its Spanish moss everywhere and old buildings. We spent the day walking around, eating ice cream, eating tacos & eating pralines. How did we not know about pralines before Savannah?!

Road Trip : Louisiana

After Texas, Tom & I drove to Louisiana. We stopped at Sam Houston Jones State Park, just because it was convenient to do so. It was Memorial Day weekend though & the campsite was pretty full. It was still good though. I got to hold a baby alligator, Louisiana has the nicest welcome center employees I've ever encountered & I am awfully glad I read that "beware of alligators" sign the morning after we camped, or I might have not been able to sleep.

Road Trip: East Texas

I tend to have a glamorized view of road trips.  I know they consist of 75 percent driving, but as soon as I am back & reminiscing, I forget that fact. Tom & I spent a couple of days, just driving. This day was one of them. We left Austin & were heading towards Louisiana to camp for the night. That's when we found this incredible place, right on the side of the highway. It was an abandoned town. I don't know how to describe it. It was overgrown with weeds, the dozens of old buildings and homes were boarded up. And there were bugs everywhere of course.

The Road Trip: Texas

Tom & I have always wanted to go on a road trip across the country & we decided that now would be the perfect time to go. So we packed up our things, I quit my job & we set out across the country and back. We left late one night & drove through the night all the way to Marfa, Texas. I wish I had pictures to explain the cuteness that was Marfa. The town was the tinniest thing & you could walk the whole thing in 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't load my film correctly, like a rookie, and the only picture I have is the one above. We arrived and set up our tent at El Cosmico, which was a lovely place. Seeing as we had driven through the night, we were dead tired, but one can't fall asleep at a campsite at 2pm, so we set off to explore. I ate the most delicious burger in my life that afternoon. We then headed back and rested and read while lounging in hammocks. Then badness happened. It got ridiculously windy. So windy that even though our tent was set up perfectly, the wind was so strong it made the tent lay flat. Camping turned out to be impossible, so we packed up & drove to the next town over, rented a room & fell asleep. Either way, Alpine was good to us, despite only having one radio station.

Will Roger's State Park

Outfit Details: Top: Forever 21// Jeans: Gap // Purse: Thrift Store // Sunglasses: Vintage Carreras

These pictures are from a while back, well, March to be specific. For Tom's birthday we spent the day riding horses at Will Roger's State Park, amongst other things. Seeing these pictures certainly makes me miss my long hair.
