Outfit Details: Dress: Forever 21 // Shoes: Payless // Sunglasses: Thrifted

Ive never really understood what this walkway is there for, but it makes for a good picture spot. Got this dress for $9 this past weekend. It made me happy. We finally got around to watching the help. I have to admit it was better than i was expecting.

Outfit Post // Big River

Outfit Details: Dress: Secondhand // Shoes: Forever 21 // Belt: Estate Sale // Sunglasses: Ray Ban

Tom & I spent the day running errands around the city. We took advantage of the local Borders bookstore closing and bought an exceeding amount of history books. I finally got Chernow's biography on Alexander Hamilton as well as a book on remarkable California pioneer women. Tom also picked up a few i plan on stealing like the last installment of Edmund Morris's Roosevelt biographies and a Churchill biography. We are gluttons for history, i suppose.

Curiosities // Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals

 // Scanned by Me
I had never heard of Ed Emberley before I ran across this book a couple days ago. But now that i know that he exists, i must say I'm impressed. This book was published in 1970 & teaches children how to draw animals based on basic shapes they already know. They progress from simple to elaborate. They are quite beautiful, arent they?

Outfit Post // Heroes & Villians

Outfit Details: Shirt: Vintage // Shorts: Levis // Shoes: Vans

Tom & I try to go on bike rides every Sunday morning. It sadly doesn't always happen, but im very happy when it does. We ride through the local neighborhoods. I usually spend my time gawking at houses & daydreaming about them. You would be surprised at the things you find while you ride around. We encountered a barn in the middle of a residential neighborhood, which you can somewhat see in the first picture. We also found a house that had a windmill, ferris wheel, and a train in their front yard.

Currently Reading // On the Road

Apparently my soul is subconsciously yearning for a trip across the united states. After finishing a book about a road trip across america, i naturally follow it up with a book of similar vain.

Outfit Post // Children of the Revolution

Outfit Details: Dress : Secondhand // Sunglasses: Vintage Carrera // Purse: Estate Sale // Shoes: Urban Outfitters

Tom & I spent some time exploring the local abandoned golf course. It is in the most unexpected neighborhood. Anyways, I got this dress at the salvation army a couple weeks ago. I have always felt that i am too short to wear a maxi dress, being only 5' 2", but it was actually quite comfortable. Hurrah for trying new things.

The Christian Dior dress looks like the older sibling to this Modcloth dress. They both have the same features, but one is more adult than the other.

Last Week's Treasures:

This is my treasure this week. I saw it at the thrift store a week ago, but it was too expensive for my budget. Tom & I went back a couple days later and it was 50% off, so we bought it! It just needs a belt and a new needle & its ready to go. It really is one of the most pretty machines i ever did see.

Curiosities // The Letterhead

While out & about at garage sales a couple days ago, i ran into this gem. The book is simply titled The Letterhead by Ernst Lehner. It chronicles the general history of the letterhead & gives real modern samples. It is from 1955 & I am so happy I stumbled upon it. Its a real gem.

Each letterhead gives the information of the designer, company and the printer. There are all sorts of methods used for the letterheads too. There are a couple of letter-pressed ones in the bunch. It is just crazy the amount of detail & personality that is displayed through something so simple & everyday. It makes me yearn to have a need for a letterhead.

This is my fellow raven haired friend Duke. After playing fetch for a while, we thought it would be nice to go out on a walk together. Duke loves tennis balls, bacon & laying on your feet. His disinterests include ice cubes & strangers.

Last Week's Treasures:

This week i was more intrigued by the things i found while thrifting rather than the things i actually bought. Tom found this old baby shower invitation in an old book he was looking through. I love old invitations & greeting cards. My favorite part is the stamp on the envelope promoting war bonds. so awfully interesting...

Outfit Post // Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

This is what i like to call my Eastern European dress. I purchased it at an estate sale a while back, not knowing if it would fit me or not.  It is a very odd cut too. I will admit it took me a while to learn how i was supposed to wear it. There are no zippers or buttons, but lots of strings to tie. Anyways, i wore this out to baby sit my nephew. He literally slept the whole time, so tom & i just hung out and watched movies.

1. heels : modcloth  //  2. dress : urban outfitters  3. handbag: ruche

It is pretty fascinating that a dress made over forty years is still being replicated nowadays. Dresses with cutouts & bows are very popular and seem so fresh this summer season, but as it turns out, its old news. Either way, both of these dresses are lovely & do not require much accessorizing.

Last Week's Treasures:

Tom & I found plenty of treasures this week. We came home with a big pile of vinyl, including this gem : The Smiths, The Queen is Dead. We also got a some Moody Blues, Dr. Seuss & Tom's Favorite, the soundtrack to the James Bond film, Live & Let Die on vinyl. I also got a new dress & vintage snowflake design pyrex while Tom got a dior sweater. It was a treasure filled, yet expensive day.
